Editorial Policy
Pet Health Pharmacy publishes health content that affects real-world decisions pet owners make about their animals' care. We take this responsibility seriously. This policy describes how we create, review, and maintain our content to ensure it meets the highest standards of accuracy and usefulness.
Content Creation
All medication profiles, condition guides, and safety articles are written using information sourced from:
- FDA-approved drug labels and Freedom of Information (FOI) summaries
- Peer-reviewed veterinary journals (JAVMA, JFMS, JVIM, Veterinary Dermatology, etc.)
- Established veterinary references (Merck Veterinary Manual, Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook)
- Professional guidance from the AVMA, AAHA, ASPCA, and relevant specialty organizations
- FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) safety communications and Dear Veterinarian letters
We do not use unverified online sources, anecdotal reports, or social media claims as primary sources for medical information.
Veterinary Review
Every piece of medical content on this site is reviewed by at least one licensed veterinary professional before publication. Reviewers check for:
- Factual accuracy of drug mechanisms, dosages, and indications
- Appropriate safety warnings and contraindications
- Clarity and readability for a general audience
- Consistency with current veterinary standards of care
Each article displays the date of its most recent review and the reviewer attribution.
Content Updates
Veterinary medicine evolves. We monitor for and incorporate:
- FDA label changes and safety advisories
- New drug approvals and indication changes
- Published research that changes clinical recommendations
- User-reported errors or feedback from veterinary professionals
When we update content, the "Last reviewed" date is updated accordingly. Significant corrections are noted within the article.
Editorial Independence
Pet Health Pharmacy does not accept pharmaceutical advertising, sponsorships, or payments that could influence our content. Our medication comparisons and treatment discussions are based solely on published evidence and established veterinary practice, not commercial relationships.
YMYL Commitment
We recognize that our content falls under Google's "Your Money or Your Life" (YMYL) category — information that could impact the health and safety of living beings. We are committed to meeting the highest E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) standards through transparent sourcing, professional review, and honest representation of evidence quality.
Where evidence is uncertain, conflicting, or evolving, we say so. We do not present debated topics as settled science, and we always recommend consulting a veterinarian for individual medical decisions.
Corrections and Feedback
If you are a veterinary professional and notice an error, outdated claim, or misleading statement, we want to hear from you. Please contact us at editorial@pethealthpharmacy.com.
